Marginal Country……that’s what we live in, meaning, in part, rain is marginal…… we live in a 8-9 inch (200-225mm) rainfall country, so we don’t ask for much. You look after the land out here when it dries off, wait for the rain, and the land will respond, green, seeding grasses that dry off, but still full of goodness.
Our amazing….one I had never experienced before…..fabulous weather year of 2016 actually started on the 28th December 2015 Many had watched and wished, just like we had, for rains to come and regenerate our lands, trees, animals and humans…..I was amazed and absolutely thrilled at the response this post received….we didn’t get rain but our […]
Warning this blog has a large number of photos 😀 7th April was our “tailing out” day of steers/bullocks, and yard work, at Scarsdale, to get ready to truck the steers/bullocks 8th April. From the Burke River system at Boulia, to the Hamilton Channels, on to the Middleton Channels, the Mighty Diamantina and […]
Mustering always calls for an early morning start…..well earlier than normal. A sunrise snapped while travelling to Scarsdale….40mins north of Boulia It looks like fog, but it is really…. ….dust. We were the third vehicle heading along the Selwyn Road (which is a gravel/dirt road) and there was no wind, so the dust “hung” in […]
